Give Agriculture Priority says LCCI Boss
The Lagos State Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) have advised the Federal Government to replicate the tax incentive currently being enjoyed by the Steel Industry in the Agriculture sector. The Chairman Lagos State Chambers of Commerce and Industry Dr. Olawale Cole said this in an interview he granted the correspondent of Punch. He stated that “It is important to look at more concessions for areas such as agriculture, which is very important because one thing that can cause real trouble in a nation is where there is no food and people cannot feed themselves”
The Helmsman of the Lagos State Chambers of Commerce and Industry commended the Ministry of Agriculture for their contribution to the sector but reiterated that government has the responsibility to do more in the area of job creation in order to curb the prevailing violence and insecurity in the nation.
He emphasised the need to explore other areas through which the nation can generate revenue. He recalled the good days of Groundnut Pyramids and Cocoa and opined that, Nigeria should return back to her “first love, agriculture and develop it”.
